There is so much left to see.

For Georgia-based artist Mallory Smith, navigating life alongside cancer since 2012 has forged a deep appreciation for the ordinary wonder of being here: sunlight through the trees, the unexpected color of a flower, time spent with the people and animals she loves, and the simple privilege of making something with her own hands. Armed with a BFA from West Georgia and a desire not to let uncertainty define her, she has chosen to let it sharpen her sense of wonder. That perspective is woven quietly into her work.

Working primarily in watercolor and handbuilt ceramics, Mallory creates whimsical, nature-inspired pieces meant to bring a sense of joy, warmth, and curiosity into the spaces they inhabit. Her use of color is intentional, a celebration of the little moments that make life feel vivid.

Mallory rarely works on just one thing at a time. Paintings, clay, ideas, and experiments exist together, each medium informing the next. Her studio is less about following a rigid plan and more about following curiosity wherever it leads.

Outside the studio, inspiration comes from the life she is grateful to have: time with her husband, Jesse, and their three rescue dogs, Charlie, Lola, and Obi-Wan; fly fishing, board games, making things together, and simply noticing the beauty close at hand.
Her work is ultimately an invitation to do the same.
